arcadio martínez lanz durán (musician)

Arcadio was born in Mexico City. He received his Bachelors degree in Music, from Universidad de las Américas Puebla, Cum Laude.  On four occasions he has participated in the “International Jazz Seminar” in Xalapa, Veracruz, where he studied with Antonio Sánchez, Víctor Mendoza and Pernel Saturnino. In 2007 he studied one semester through an international exchange program at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. He has also participated in other seminars with renowned musicians such as Javier Montiel and Wade Mathews. Since 2001 he has been taking private lessons with: Armando Montiel, Carlos Noyola, Hernan Hetch, Bob Moses, Jamey Haadad and Nicolás Santella.He was awarded the Jenkins Grant in 2006 at UDLAP, and during the same year he was part of the dean’s list for outstanding grades. His participation in musical festivals include: “Cameralia” (Música de cámara UDLAP, 2009), “Performática” (Contemporary Dance, UDLAP, 2007 – 2009), and “The Art and Culture International Congress” (2005).His work on composition and interpretation includes “Perennial” (videodance, 2011), “Offering in movement” (multidisciplinary project, 2008 – 2009), “Ekaterina” for “Un Miércoles Sin Periódico” (documentary, 2009), “Threshold” (dance, 2009), “De la vaca a la boca” (shortfilm, 2008), “Cuatro Cuentos Project” for “Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Fotografía Inédita” (Manuel Alvarez Bravo photography exhibition, 2006), and “Grafos” (Ana Paula Martinez Lanz photography exhibition, 2006). In 2009 he was part of the UDLAP Orchestra “Symphonia” in the percussion section. Since 2005 he has been working at UDLAP as accompanist for the Dance Program.
